What to visit

Kostel Nanebevzetí Panny Marie

A church that was given a second chance. An amazing place unlike any other. This is how the Kostel Nanebevzetí Panny Marie in Neratov is most often described. There is no exaggeration in these words, and their truth can be confirmed by everyone who has visited this place.

The restoration of the church is being carried out by Sdružení Neratov, z. s. together with Římskokatolická farnost Neratov.

Hiking and cycling

The map shown below provides easier orientation and an overview of interesting tourist locations. Below the map you will find detailed tips for hiking and cycling routes.

Neratov and its surroundings: A paradise for hikers, cyclists, and history lovers

Neratov is located in the CHKO Orlické hory. For hiking enthusiasts, it offers an ideal starting point for short walks as well as more demanding hikes in beautiful nature. If you follow the path behind the pub uphill, a walk of approximately 2–3 km awaits you to Vysoký kořen – a natural viewpoint that, in good weather, offers views as far as Suchý vrch. From there, you can continue toward the fortress Hanička to Anenský vrch at an altitude of 992 m above sea level, where a lookout tower is located.

For cyclists, there is the option to continue from Anenský vrch along Jiráskova cesta through Mezivrší to Pěticestí, where refreshments are available. An interesting place nearby is Kunštácká kaple, about 1 km away. From Pěticestí, you can ride down to Orlické Záhoří and return to Neratov.

For more experienced cyclists, there are additional options:

  • Continue along the cycling route (bunkrovka) below Jiráskova cesta toward Velká Deštná – Šerlich (the turn to Velká Deštná is at the junction U srubu, about 500 m away) and from Šerlich return by road toward Orlické Záhoří.
  • Head toward Velká Deštná, reach the saddle Pod Jelenkou and turn toward Luisino údolí, there turn onto road 310 to Zdobnice, and at the intersection in the village turn toward Říčky. From there continue toward Mezivrší (or take the cable car) back to the ridge, and from Mezivrší you can follow the yellow hiking trail back to Neratov.

The border area also attracts those interested in war history. Without exaggeration, it can be said that bunkersappear almost at every step, the largest and most important of which is the above-mentioned the fortress Hanička.

An interesting stop not only for pilgrims can be the church in Vrchní OrliceYou can also make a pleasant circular walk to it. From Neratov to Vysoký kořen continue to the settlement of Hadinec (blue hiking trail). From Hadinec to Vrchní Orlice follow the yellow trail. You can return to Neratov by road.

Another option is a trip to Žamberk, which can still be comfortably reached by bike. In addition to visiting our Občerstvení u Neratovských in Albertinum for refreshments and rest, Žamberk is also a heritage zone. Here you will find the Muzeum starých strojů a technologiíthe Městské muzeum, and the birthplace of Prokop Diviš. Especially in the summer months, it is also worth continuing from Žamberk to the Pastviny reservoir.
